What you will study
In this qualification, you will study a variety of practical assignments that address one mandatory module: Exploring and Developing Creative Media Skills. This includes two units, A1 Skills Development and A2 Creative Project. For A1: Skills Development, you will explore key fundamentals of media practice, learning how skills are integrated and connected to generate developed outcomes. For A2: Creative Project, you will apply the skills you have been developing throughout the programme to a creative project that demonstrates your ability to self-direct a response to a brief from inception to completed product. Your creative media practice assignments will incorporate technical skills in and/or across the following areas:
- MOVING IMAGE: film, television and video. This includes constructing narrative, production, editing techniques and lighting.
- SOUND: radio, sound design, soundtrack and sound effects. This includes digital audio, constructing narrative, sound types, capture and sound production.
- TEXT: graphics/ photography, journalism, typography, script/copywriting. This includes typography, composition, and copywriting.

Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs at grade 9 – 4/A* – C, including English and Maths, or a Level 2 qualification (Merit or Distinction) in a related subject.

Assessment
You will complete various creative production assignments to produce a portfolio of evidence. This qualification is assessed using five criteria: informing ideas, problem-solving, technical skills, professional practice and communication. Grading for this qualification will be at Pass, Merit or Distinction. Your learning will be assessed using a variety of styles to help you develop a broad range of transferable skills.

Moving Forward
This course will enable you to progress to further study such as another Diploma with 540 GLH in a complementary sector or the BTEC National Extended Diploma in Creative Media Practice Film, TV and Sound, apprenticeships or employment in the creative industries.
This qualification attracts UCAS Tariff points and meets the admission requirements for most relevant courses, such as film, television, video, radio, visual communication, digital media and media subjects. You should always check the entry requirements for degree programmes at specific higher education providers.
