In summary, school liaison officers at the College bridge the gap between schools and colleges, ensuring students have the information they need to make informed choices for their future education and career paths.

  • Our courses at a glance

In addition to a vocational course, 16-18s can study English and Maths alongside their chosen course if necessary. This is usually done when the student has not achieved a grade 4 at GCSE or equivalent. For example, a student studying Level 2 Engineering could take GCSE maths or Numeracy Functional Skills alongside this course. We also offer various degree-level courses and professional qualifications for adults that students can progress onto. Our careers advisors are on hand to help with UCAS applications and give career advice to ensure every student gets onto the right course for them.

  • Entry requirements

Each course has different entry requirements depending on the level.

    • Entry Level 3/ Level 1 - There are no entry requirements, but if you don’t have any qualifications, you will be asked to take an English and maths test.
    • Level 2 - 4 GCSEs at grades 9-3 (A*-D) (English and maths desirable) or a Level 1 qualification.
    • Level 3 - 4 GCSEs at grade 9-4 (A*-C), including English and Maths, or a Level 2 qualification (Merit or Distinction) in a related subject.
Note: for skills-based qualifications, you might need the skills at Level 2 to enrol on Level 3.

  • Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships have become a popular choice for people looking to start their careers. We have a huge selection of apprenticeships on offer from different employers at different levels in various industries, from hairdressing to digital marketing to finance and health care. To find out more about apprenticeships, click here.

  • Work experience

Taking on a student for work experience can significantly benefit your business. Work experience students have industry-related knowledge from their vocational studies and can provide useful capacity on projects and tasks. They often bring fresh ideas and approaches you may have yet to consider, as well as skills in social media that can deliver a real business benefit. Managing and supporting a work-experience student can also be an opportunity within the business for staff wanting to take on a supervisory role in the future.
