HNC Sport is a Level 4 qualification made up of 120 credits. It provides a nationally recognised qualification offering excellent career progression within the sports industry. The course is designed to provide a clear line of site to employment such as a professional sportsperson, sports manager or coach. Students will gain a wide range of sector knowledge tied to practical skills gained in research, self-study, directed study and workplace scenarios.

The HNC in Sport can be completed in two ways. The first is in association with Bromley Football Club will provide you with the option to play at the Bromley FC stadium, home of the professional development squad (u23s). The second option allows you to specialise in a sport of your choice such as Tennis, Rugby or Basketball.

BTEC Higher Nationals provide nationally recognised qualifications offering excellent career progression within the sports industry. Higher Nationals are designed to provide a clear line of site to employment such as a professional sportsperson, sports manager or coach.

  • Entry Requirements

    Applicants should have one or more of the following:

    • BTEC Level 3 qualification
    • GCE Advanced Level profile that demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject
    • Other related Level 3 qualification
    • We will accept T Levels for entry onto our higher education courses, providing they meet our entry requirements.
    • Access to Higher Education Diploma
    • An international equivalent of the above Achievement of GCSE grades A* to C or 9 to 4 in English and maths is preferred. Relevant industry experience will also be considered. Applicants for the Bromley Football Club Pathway will also be required to participate in football trials to demonstrate a good standard of playing ability.
  • Assessment

    Pearson BTEC HNC combines a student-centred approach with a flexible, unit-based structure. Students are required to apply their knowledge to a variety of assignments and activities, with a focus on the holistic development of practical, interpersonal and higher level thinking skills. Assessment reflects not only what the student knows, but also what they can do, in employment.

  • Progression

    Students can progress straight into employment within the sports industry or continue with us to study the Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Sport.

    The course is comprised of 8 units, including:

    • Three Core Mandatory Units: Physical activity, lifestyle and health, the sport landscape and project management (Pearson-set)
    • Two Specialist Mandatory Units: Activity leadership and inclusive sport
    • Three Optional Units: Technology in sport, working with young people and work exposure
  • Cost and Loans

    Although we aim to minimise any additional costs to students over and above the course tuition fee, there will be some additional costs which students are expected to meet these include:

    • Textbooks
    • Uniforms
    • Travel to other sites - Where required
    • Library Fees and Fines - If you fail to return loaned items within the required time you will be responsible for the cost of any fees or fines applicable
    • Printing and photocopying - You will need to cover the cost of any printing or photocopying undertaken to support your learning

Our one-year access to higher education courses can help you get there. You can even study English and maths alongside your course if needed.

If you progress onto and complete a degree course, you will not be required to repay any of the Advanced Learner Loan you may have taken to cover your access course fees.
