This one year, level 3 qualification is a continuation from the Media level 3 OCR Cambridge Technical Subsidiary Diploma and provides further understanding of the multimedia journalism, e-publishing, radio, film and television industries by empowering you to work with media products, production processes and technologies. This leads to practical and creative skills that transfer into the workplace. Cambridge Technicals are exam-free so suit all learning styles and include hands-on practical experience based upon real life scenarios.

  • What you will study

    You will study a range of units providing you with the opportunity to explore a variety of different fields of multimedia journalism, e-publishing, radio, film and television. The units you will study could include:

    • Preparing a career in the media industry

    • Production for UK TV

    • Audio-visual promos

    • Scriptwriting for media products

    • UK radio broadcasting

    • Talk and music radio production

    • Radio drama production

    • Planning and pitching an audio-visual media product

    • Audio-visual advertising media

    • Print-based advertising media

    • Planning and pitching an audio media product

    • Producing an audio media product

    • Social media products
  • Entry Requirements

    4 GCSEs at grade 9-4 (A*-C), including English and Maths, or a Level 2 qualification (Merit or Distinction) in a related subject. Note: for skills-based qualifications you might need the skills at Level 2 in order to enrol onto the Level 3.

  • Assessment

    All units are graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction. You must pass each unit to achieve the Diploma qualification at the end of the course. Students are also required to undertake examinations in Essential (Functional) Skills English and Maths. This course is hard work and challenging, deadlines must always be met, units must be passed, it is also creative, fun and very rewarding.
