Creative Textiles

This course covers the following skills:

  • Batik: Master the Indonesian art of wax-resist dyeing to create intricate patterns on fabric.
  • Tie-Dye: Experiment with hand-dyeing techniques, including indigo and Japanese shibori, to produce unique variegated patterns.
  • Embroidery: Learn both hand and machine embroidery to create raised and ornamental designs on various materials.
  • Silk Painting: Dive into the Asian art of applying vibrant, translucent paints or dyes directly onto silk fabric.
  • Felt Making: Discover how to create non-woven textiles by matting fibres together, using materials like wool, alpaca, and cashmere.

You will have the opportunity to create pictures, hats, scarves, cards or small gift items
