This qualification is designed to enable learners to develop their skills to communicate with Deaf people in a variety of everyday situations. It will allow you to participate in more varied conversations than at Level 1. It will also develop skills to use BSL to communicate in real life situations as well as routine and daily experiences. You will also develop an understanding of grammar to cope with some non-routine communication.

The course is aimed at people who:

  • are deaf and wish to gain a qualification in their native language
  • wish to progress from BSL Level 1 to an intermediate level
  • are studying for professional development
  • What you will study

    You will study

    • Theme 1: Everyday conversation
    • Theme 2: Eating and drinking
    • Theme 3: Spending and shopping
    • Theme 4: Travel and Holidays

    Theme 1 is mandatory. Themes 2-4: two out of the three will be chosen by the teacher. You will use and build on the vocabulary and grammar features from theme 1.

  • Entry Requirements

    Completion of BSL Level 1

    To have sufficient sight, manual dexterity, facial and body movement to produce and receive BSL

  • Moving Forward

    You can progress onto the British Sign Language Level 3
