A practical course in which you will learn how to centre clay on the potter’s wheel and throw small bowls. Through independent practice and tutor-assisted exercises, you will learn the process of making mugs, lidded vessels, jugs and plates. You will learn how to finish the base of the pots with tools, how to carve and enhance surfaces, using glazing as a decorative technique.

    Please bring your own apron and do not wear your best clothes as you will get a little messy!

  • Entry Requirements

    The course is suitable for complete beginners as well as more experienced students who wish to further improve and develop their skills.

  • Moving Forward

    You could or join Hand-building Beginners, Ceramics Mixed Ability, Ceramics Constructed, Ceramics Workshop, Surface Decoration, or Ceramics Studio.

  • Cost and Loans

    The cost for materials for this course is £40 per term, however any additional enrolment in the same term is £30
